Morning all,

I have posted on here before about my project bantam, a B175 based, road legal cafe racer (cos I can't afford a goldie! )

I am about to start the engine rebuild in earnest, and I would like some guidance on getting the engine to as high a standard as possible.

The engine spec will be as follows:

D14 engine

B175 crank with T&G autos conrod kit, to be fitted by them

Suzuki piston to bring up to 185cc, again from T&G

Rex caunt stiffer clutch springs and ...

My fav corner is Debni bend (3 lefts in 1 great at speed if you get it right) at Pembrey but dislike the rest of the place because its flat and un-interesting. I hate slow corners so I don't like harpins and Shaws at Mallory regularly has me on the deck!
I first became aware of Bantam racing from a magazine article many years a go but I can not for the life of me remember which magazine and when ?

I have the Motorcycle mechanics articles from April 67 and July-August 72 but I'm certain it was later than this ( I am only 49 ) So can anyone else remember any magazine articles concerning building a bantam racer , probably from the late 70,s early 80,s or even later ?

All,

To assist in the construction of the riders list, please add yourselves to this thread if you are planning on racing a Bantam next year.

It might also be an opportunity to influence peoples selection one way or the other with suitable tales of performance gain or loss or perhaps a brief bio of past and furture glory !!

Really good reasons could influence final sale prices

Hi,

It was mentioned at the meeting about a volunteer for each meeting to write a brief race report (Earlier examples can be found on the web site under articles).

If for now we assumme seven meetings as last year we need at least seven volunteers, although more would mean two day meetings could have seperate reports :~)

I am willing to cover one round, and we did have a second volunteer at the meeting but I didnt get a name.

Another season ends and I wanted to congratulate Mike on regaining the Bantam Championship and Peter on what has been the best seasons riding I can recall from him in my time with the Bantams to take second place.

Also Robbie for an impressive comeback after last years "minor fall" in what has been a very exciting three way battle in the 175's with Michael and Steve Frayne. Who would have believed Steve would lose ground at the end due to reliability issues !!

All,

I know we have discussed this a few times but are we going to have a "club" meeting at Cadwell at the end of the season ?

I would like to propose we have a Bantam Racer and supporters barbecue on the Saturday evening at Cadwell as an end of year social and an opportunity to review any proposals for any changes for next year and suggestions to get more bikes out, website revamp etc.

Any thoughts

I've either got the basics of a Bantam racer or a pile of scrap , if nothing else it will keep me busy for a couple of weeks

Hopefully the weather today (Monday) is a bit kinder and commiserations to those who suffered mechanical problems , Hopefully they could be sorted .

Barrel is 52mm, has been ported and has a larger inlet manifold welded on. Compression seems pretty high. Exhaust has a threaded adapter ring to allow larger diameter exhaust pipe.
Hello all, this is my first post.

I've recently bought a 60's (?) bantam racer which is very unspoiled and very period. The forks are Velocette LE, engine is a D3 with a Todd head, Alpha crank and porting, crank stuffing etc. It's been very nicely engineered and the work done on it is really good quality. I'm not intending to race it, I'm sure that it wouldn't be remotely competitive nowadays, but I would like to do a bit of vintage sprinting with it. I just wondered if anyone had come across ...

The engine is split and cleaned, and i'm in the process of ordering up a few bits, although i'm doing the engine work after i have a rolling chassis.

Took a bit of a gamble with the wheel though, it's a Honda CB 125 RS front wheel which the guy said was 1.4" wide, ...
