Hi,

Has anyone managed to find a reliable alternative to using the Suzuki PE 175 Piston ?

I dont want to go bigger than 62.5mm bore size

All ideas would be gratefully received ! Thanks.

Jon.

Wossner forged , high quality pistons for PE175 are readily available form the very helpful lads at Firefox Racing in Keithley, Yorks. Worthwhile for me as 95 quid, no VAT, compared to NZ$310 for Suzuki ones. Wiseco are OK, if you can find them. I have tracked down the odd one off US E Bay

Hi,
Will kindly rise a question again, do any one in the UK stock these Maico 250cc con rod kits?

Did not really understod one article I read, do you put togther rolls and cage for a complete small bearing Suzuki / Maico joint? Are there no std needle bearings to find?

About pistons, Jeff, MX South US do offer Wiseco both for TS and PE.

as for the small end I used rollers as we can not get a cage to fit
hope that helps

Thx alot Robbie,
Did you made special washer to box in the rolls before assemble the piston?

Remember RGV VJ22 have washers to keep the cage/needle bearing in place at rod before assemble the piston.

About none BSA con rod and Suzuki PE175 or TS185 pistons

Thx for the evilbay link
KTM MX 250 1986 seems to be an option, the ID in rod small end is 22mm and bearing 22x16 could be a way to go..What do you think

Have not found any Maico 250 rod yet....seems hard to find in UK or US No

Not Hot Rods, Mitaka

Are you using BSA std rods for your bikes in the 175 class?

Hi patscabinet,

Try maico only for the conrod ;
http://www.maicoonly.co.uk/products/1953/74/Conrods/

I got my piston from atv unlimited on ebay only took about a week to turn up.

PostSubject: 22 x 16   Pistons for new 175 engine build. Icon_minitimeSun Apr 17, 2011 10:58 am

Patscabinet,

Unfortunately 22 x 16 is not a standard size.

The KTM has 22 x 18 and the Suzuki pistons are usually associated with 20 x 16 little end.

So as Robbie says, easy way is to use 3mm rollers and washers.

Or more expensively, as I am waiting on, grind down OD of hardened sleeve with a 20mm ID. Then easy to swap standard parts.

You could also bore out piston pin bosses to 18mm, but then you need to do that each time you change a piston.

Hi,

Do finally have my Maico rod..for 18mm wristpin, though it should be for 16mm.
Two options as I see it..have found several suppliers offering 22 x 16 needle bearings, or press in a hard sleeve OD 22 -matching Suzuki TS/PE needle bearing.

Bantam rod 189g and Maico 185g.
Wiseco for TS weigh 214g so complete crank with assembled piston wil be truend together.

Hi all,

Will try these bearings (for the combo Maico rod 22mm, W 16mm and TS185, PE175 pin 16mm).
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=131064325506&fromMakeTrack=true#ht_2287wt_1073
Have asked the supplier about the bearing weight..

Have any of you tried these bearings?

BR, Pat
