PostSubject: Thinking of starting racing   Thinking of starting racing Icon_minitimeMon Jun 01, 2015 7:34 am

Hi today's been intresting, popped to see a friend(bantam owner) an got on the subject of track days an how I'd like to have ago, before you know it he's taking me to see someone else an I've been given the opportunity to use a bike an start racing. I've never seen a bantam before other than my friends, I have little knowledge about the racing scene on road, iv been riding bikes on a off since I was small mainly motocross an hard enduro.
My first meeting is possibly lydden if I can get everything in place in time.
I've been told I could take part in a parade lap but I'm thinking of just jumping in the deep end an having ago only because after traveling all the way from Wales if I don't enter il only be kicking myself

Joined this forum for some advise on what i should do an what you guys think about having ago

Cheers olly

Hi welcome you find the racers in the paddock helpful go for it Lydden meeting will be four championship rounds plus the  Fred Launchbury race which you could enter too but you will not win it if your on a watercooled  so that's five races plus practice and if you wanted more time time on the track you could Enter 250 s/c races as well which would give you nine 9 races
The weekend should be good it will be 55years of bantam racing I all putting some info up soon
we also have a facebook page which a lot of the races use as well
any help you need let me know I am in kent near Dartford
all the best
Robbie

If you could find out a little on the bikes history then it may help give you some direction too. A lot of the current racers and contributors to the site may well recognise the bike and be able to elaborate on its history as well as help towards your first outing.

Your request to join the fb group has been approved but I suggest you look at both sites to see updates on your requests for help as some contributors prefer either one or the other or sometimes both !! Either way I'm sure you will be surprised on the amount of help available

Hi Olly if you haven't got a competition licence you will need to ask the lads how to obtain one before you can race. I don't think you need one for the parades but I could be wrong.

A full road motorcycle licence is all you need to parade
