can anyone tell me how to tell if a engine case is
of the the sand cast type... scratch

Yes I can .... possible...

Engine numbers D5 are sandcast

Numbers ED7 are sandcast ... but FD7 and GD7 are diecast...
(however some ED7 maybe? I've heard but never seen)

Post a picture on here of your engine side with ignition and clutch cable
assy removed and I'll tell you - if your in any doubt.

thanks for the info.. ive just got back from ross on wye bike jumble had hoped to find some cases.. had thought that some of the d7 cases were the only ones but a bloke their told me d5 cases were the ones to use... couldnt find any anyway... thanks again for your help.
