Tyre and chain advice Empty
PostSubject: Tyre and chain advice   Tyre and chain advice Icon_minitimeMon Dec 22, 2008 1:38 am

Merry christmas all, could I please get some advice on my cafe racer project?
I'm wondering what the best tyres would be for a road legal, B175 based cafe racer? I want to avoid the cheapo tractor tyres my standard D14 has. Currently the project bike has an Avon Speedmaster on the front (with plain banded tread), are these any good?
Also, can the final drive chain and sprockets be fairly easily upgraded? Or is a decent, standard sized chain and sprocket usually OK?
Thanks for your help
Phill

Looking at your photo IMHO I think you have gone AAF with the brakes.
You should have upgraded the front and left the back standard.

That wheel is off another bike, purely to stop the back end dragging on the floor while I rebuild the proper one. I am having a go at converting the front to twin leading shoe (!), though that is on hold until I can test it better. I'll need a new rear tyre before I refit the wheel though.
