Greetings,

Some of you may remember me from the past !

My No 1 son has expressed an interest in racing and given my past history I would find it difficult to place too many obstacles in his way.

He is 15 years old so would be limited to a 125 Banty.

I would like to find a complete machine if possible or a motor that I could then install in some new cycle parts.

Come on people wot yer got ?

There's a 125 on e-bay, no 110099147988, might need a bit of work, but looks ok. Paul - 07812125057 wants £500 ono. Ken Smile

2 antiques in the space of a couple of days, these are no good for racing these days I'm afraid Mad

Think there's issues racing in the vintage club at that age as well though you can ride a gp125 something that's 3 times quicker than a Bantam when your 12/13 Shocked

There is bikes out there and there's been some modern race bantams for sale in the past year also the odd loan bant to ride, mine's a 175 or he could have a ride on this, see if he likes it. Gonna take my 15yr old nephew sprinting first get him use to the bike.

Good luck

Tony

pm me your number if you want to have a chat about bantam racing/sprinting for young uns;)

Hello Mick,

I was a member of the SE Centre of the club for quite a few years and used to write in the Club Mag under the name of "The Mighty Ting ".......Tibbitts can tell you how that one was earned !

I started racing in about 1972/3 on a Greeves Silverstone and then ran a Yamaha RD400 with sponsorship from Sondel Sport. I raced various other beasts in my time, 250 Ducati, 650 Norton Dominator, LC 250, the Sondel "Boss Racer " as Ron Bayliss used to call it ,which attempted to break my neck at Brands !.

I eventually bought the remains of that machine and produced a 354 TZ like animal, which I ran in the '83 Manx . It was right at the end of my racing career that I was persuaded that it was about time I rode a Bantam so I lined young Mr Tibbitts pockets with cash and purchased a long stroke shed...oops ! sorry, I mean thoroughbred steed and at last joined the ranks of the true racers and competed on a Bantam. He never forgave me for selling the Fontana front brake to a Ducati restorer for more than I paid for the whole machine !

There were many happenings over the years I was a member of the club, some of which are amusing and many just plain embarrasing !

I should just state that contrary to public opinion of the time Mr Tibbitts was in fact quite generous when buying a round.....the only issue was his inability to remember the alarm code for his wallet Laughing

Maybe this has triggered a few memories.

By the way I am a year older than you....just remember the old saying
" Your only as old as the woman you feel " Smile

Tim.

Enough of this wimpy memory stuff!
Time for the latest wonder-word of the week, from meine Frau - no less!

"Yeah!" I said, "If it weren't for the force of gravity we'd all be flyng off - -- endlessly out of control into space..."

She said, "Oh! What a precious thing - gravity is."

Take care!

Peter T... thanks for the Aeroplane mags... wonderful Tiger Moth series!
