Hi Zak
You will save your self a lot of expense by staying away from the iron barrels, and save a lot of money by testing the "real deal" barrel, you can can not transfer data from one set up to the next directly, so you must be careful.
Iron barrels are prone to seizure without special modification (see Pete Tibbitt's barrel) the technology is not easy to sort out, and then if you get thin above the exhaust port it will distort... result.. more seizure. The iron is very hard to work with too.
Go for the alloy barrel every time.
I use a cranked inlet from a YZ250 and that then lets the carb miss the frame, and get a good gulp of air without the frame in the way, a good technique.
Cheers,
Alan

Hi Zak,

Got the barrels this morning! Pretty good condition. Getting them sent to the blasters his week. Getting the file and sand paper out today to sort out the carbonisation in the barrel and exhaust port. Polishing will hve to wait!

if i had time and money for a bantam, i'd have one right now as a tuning project. i've got so much theoretical work on scavenging to work on, but no bike to practice on! fiddled a bit on the LC with positive results though Smile yeah my apprenticeship's going really well mate Smile
