| Hi Ned, Considering that I do not have much time spare with a long working day and the desire to race, as well as doing the web site updates and normal life, I am not very prepared to write full blown race reports to go with everything else. I am grateful for the points assistance I get from James Cook, but I do not get any articles or reports from anyone. So it is all I am prepared to do for now, unless you know someone who can wander round the paddock every meeting and find out who has done what, and check out the results as well as watch the racing intently! then do a full race write up. Bantam racing needs a roving reporter! any offers? Cheers, Alan | |

| Hi Alan I wasn't complaining mate. I just wondered if it was a link that wasn't working for me and I was missing out on something. As for any offers of roving reporter, been there, done it and got the T shirt mate. Producing and doing the art work for the BRC mag in pre-computer days weren't no doddle. | |

| Very true Ned, you were the Rembrandt of the racing world I remember Seriously though, i reckon if everyone sent an email to one person after every meeting, recounting their expieriances and any snippets of info, that one person could quite easily collate the info into one report and post it up, or send it to Alan in a format of his choosing to copy and paste. Seems simple enough but I will no doubt be shot down in flames. | |

| Yeah! I remember those times of 32 or 36 paged mags -- still got some and wondered how the hell we did it? 4 , or was it 5? Centres each writing their piece... Really good Spares, Trophies, Finances, Social and other speciality sections with about 600 plus paying members at one time. Mary Styles playing hell with the ACU about their sleeping on track safety issues. Mick Scutt, Pat Plosky, Colin Neil, John Scrooge(the treasurer), Colin Aldridge, the Hunter Bros and so... on the committee ... Ned´s change to half our original size (A4 to A5) mag, with a more professional outlook and printing was really well done. The best era of the BSA Bantam Racing Club I am thinking. ... Such a pity it had to come to an end. ... But I see the dim light getting brighter -- what about that young blood there who took those good pics recently? Tim was it? Now he and a couple of others could surely get some good videos together for the rest of us to view on here. Peter Tibbitts made a couple of films, one time and there´s a tape of mine out there somewhere... You could string bits together and give a running commentary on how the club formed and how we -- in those early days absolutely condemned Fairings as Disguises of the Devil Hisself... and our threesome team building a 40 pound-sterling Bantam racer with the engine our Les found in a field... Its there in the Avatar... and then get into the modern times with your filming. ... ...Cheers! ... ---If you are racing -- try to remember the gravity of the situation -- the force can hurt.

| So right John, not bad for an old fart Seriously, if bantam racing is to continue, it needs young blood and young blood have differant views on how their chosen sport should be represented. In our day it was the treasured club mag, which I personally contributed to regularly, it was always well recieved and a highlight of the month when it fell on the front door mat. These days of cyber space require a whole new outlook on the representation of the sport, especially when attracting new blood and the continuation of a proud heritage. I have already worked very hard on a new web page that will greet the members, new, old or prospective to the delights of the sport but so far have recieved no reaction to my efforts. I am busy elsewhere but will always give my time to preserving the class that gave me a start in racing and resulted in two club championships, results and championship positions with other clubs, high national results and an international licence. I could not have done it without the firm foundation of riding a bantam quickly, it has such a knock on effect that your riding in other classes improves dramatically, nuff said. | |

And severely reprimanded at an AGM for producing a cartoon of a rooster piddling on a spark plug with the caption. "Fowled Plug"I could have understood it if he never had his back turned !

It made life so much easier John. No more hammering on the key board to ensure the wax coat on the printing sheet was penetrated. Diagrams and drawings involved lightly drawing on the waxed paper with a pencil and then scratching the wax off on the lines you were happy with. It was bloody frustrating to find you had missed a couple of lines when you started printing.
