Hi again,

Does the Bantam Clutch Basket require a band around the outside to stop the sides spreading ?
This is a standard racing modification for the villiers clutch.

How many springs should I use - I have seen some modified with 6, 8 & 9?

I know that RC does an 8 spring conversion kit with thick pressure plate and deeper top plate.
Anyone tried this type with all metal plates ?

Whats the technique for removing the friction material from Surflex Plates ?

SORRY, lots of questions...I know you have heard all these questions before !

Thanks again. Jon.

Hi Jon,
Just about everyone uses 9 spring conversion, panic not... I will take you a free top plate along to the practice day! It will still need a cover to be made up though... There is no real need to put a band round the outside as the top cover does the job of holding the clutch together, but I note that some people do do that particular modification.
Also the centre push mushroom can be modified to take a thrust needle bearing to great advantage as the standard ones are prone to welding themselves together!! and then they are a sod to sort out! See the bantamracer artticles on the main web site for evidence!
ring me if you need help
Alan
