| It doesn´t happen to all of us, Ed -- just picks one of us out, now and again.
I think it was you who said he was hoping to learn some basic technical stuff & if so I´d recomend Roy Bacon´s "Two Stroke Tuning" book, published by Transport Bookman -- probably available from Amazon -- book number is ISBN 0 8518 4039 6 -- of course its an ancient publication, 1981, but basic rules don´t change....
All the best! | |

| Subject: Exam time about mid season 2012... Mon Nov 07, 2011 10:46 pm | |
| Could do a verbal examination in the break between Bantam races about mid-saeson 2012 ----???
Errr!
I just learned a lesson from Derek -- I THINK! -- he said put it in layman´s terms and I realized that what I had been saying -- on `Heavy Flywheels´ and "PV to the gamma minus 1..." -- might have been theorems to degree students in McGill or Concorde universities in Montreal [(where I was invited to talk about engines --- DIESEL engines!!!)]
Why does everybody call me BigHead...??? I asked my Mum and She said shut-up and go a fetch half-cwt of taters from the greengrocer in your hat...
Ed, don´t hesitate -- don´t think that what you ask might be laughed at -- just ask.
If I can´t answer I´ll pass it on to Trevor, McScutt, Mike Powell, James Cook, Alan Brown and about twenty others who have a mass of experience in making Bantams go quick and why they work like they do....
Cheers!

Have to admire all the bantam builders and the talent that goes in.

| Subject: The trouble with Layman´s Terms,... Mon Nov 14, 2011 5:59 am | |
| Gave it some thought -- and I think now the trouble with putting things in Layman´s Terms might be tending towards romanticising. That is, there are always two views of everything*** the Scientific one where everything is measured and proved by having obeyed the theoretical laws established by scientists and by getting the appropriate maths correct... And oh & ah! the other one -- where you wet a finger and say, "I fink it´s the `eavy flywheel what´s goin´ ter put fings right," could be a catastophic guess.
Only joking, I just made a resolution to try and keep things very simple....!
***those two views were my Mother-in-Law´s & mine -- now she has passed on, bless her!, I am only the who is right!
Yes Nick, I know, its just a load of BullShine!

| Hi Mike,
Yes they do fit fine, thanks for helping sort out that part of the build.
John,
Yes it is the kitchen and one of the many areas that gets used for bikes, no women in this house!
As for the the other questions, dad is the one who is going to race, im just helping along the way as im fiddling with my bantam projects. Been a guide weekend bantam fiddling.
Yes we do have a greeves but i think you might have a problem making it turn corners!
Kind Regards
Eddie

| Looks good!
Tried to send a couple of pics -- did you get anything Ed? -- or a great pile of irrelevant snapshots like my Mum on my Dad´s New Hudson solo, circa 1926... ?
What happens is that I scan a photo and HP Copy Service takes up the screen. Then when I attach what I just scanned I find out from the other end that something (somethingS more often) else, out of my files, has been sent...
It´s like I am once again out of control of things -- like when I was road-racing, often out of control!!! | |

| Built the green bike outside the kitchen and in the living room but now all my bikes/projects are a mile away in a powerless garage, whilst I'm stuck here baby sitting the nippers! Hopefully get mine in sprint trim soon though Tony pics to follow, don't hold your breath | |

| Thanks for that Ted,
The engine on the table is from the red rigid one, i had to strip it after the piston/barrel incident as i wanted to make sure no bits had got inside. Luckily i did and found the missing barrel piece.
Kind Regards

| Well we have had a few hurdles (not bike related) The last cadwell was probably where dad got the best incentive to push forward, maybe people relaxed and chatty? ( Still upmost respect to robbie at lydden, a man going out of his way to get new learners involved)
Kind Regards
