| Me too. My jinx circuit Snetterton. I had finised late Saturday, fitting a fairing the night before, which seemed to welcome more bad luck of Snetterton. Colin Neill who´d been behind as we went under the bridge reckoned sparks came up from something under the right side -- in the right-hander -- which lifted the bike up from right-hand lean and had me straight into the bank. Things were a bit messy but I knew nothing about it until next morning -- Monday, when the day doctor asked, "How long were you unconscious at the time of the accident yesterday?" Instant lie came, "Oh! a few minutes, I reckon." 16 hours X 60 -- 960 minutes -- a few!!?? The most painful bit was the trip in the Mini home to Barking: every tiny bump in the road was a stabbing agony -- that Mini had "Hydrospastic" suspension -- real name Hydrostatic I think? -- was probably meant for road-racing and on normal roads was a HARD-HARD ride.
What about the Texan in the Silverstone GP then? Broke his collar-bone 6 days before finishing 3rd today -- Brilliant Colin Edwards!

| Me, Pete Styles, Ron Curtis.
Worst bit was the unsympathetic bitch of a sister at Canterbury hospital, painfully yanking my leathers off with that it's self inflicted serves you right attitude.

| Sorry Mike, professional opinion, its an injury that occurs from falling off with a naturally defensive outstretched arm. You might notice its usually your dominant side. A number of my cyclist colleagues have a gnarly upper pectoral region too ! Higher speed just makes you roll more or slide further. I have given my autograph to several well known superbike racers for such injuries.
I got mine, + dislocated and fractured scapula trying to follow the line of 5x world champion Hugh Anderson into the hairpin on old Taupo circuit. Like Ned, the worst moment was some big hairy arsed dyke of a nurse pulling my leathers off. My stepson Andrew said he knew it was sore, cos it was the only time he had ever heard me use the F word. < 4 times in one sentence ! I asked for some Entonox (Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen 50%) and was told They could not give me any in case I had a head injury, to which I apparently answered "I will give you a f...... head injury if you don't give me some analgesia ! Mine fractured into five parts, one part pushing on arm nerves; unfortunately before they were routinely plating them. 5 weeks off work and after another fortnight before I could even write notes. Now I can write and play golf ambidextrously, well badly . It humbled me into teaching a trainees to have more empathy to seemingly "minor" fractures.

| Can I add my self into the collar bone club? 1976 Russell's corner flat out in the BRC 50 Miler race trying to get back the lead! the barrier was very hard at the time (sounds familiar!). Alan | |
