| BHR normally give trophies down to third place. In the last two seasons we have been lucky - getting pots down to tenth which we have funded ourselves To fund the trophies we need a whip round! I think its great at the dinner having so many bantam trophies given out.
Any donations can be sent to me... message (pm) me if you need my address.

| I used to think that having trophies was just an unneccessary and extravagent piece of personal conceit but now in the throes of nostalgia I am glad of having some BRC trophies which remind of a particular moment-in-time when those exciting seconds-of-glory were all mine -- ALL MINE -- belonged to me and no other on this peculiar planet! and I actually regret taking the money at Brands instead of having the pot (was explained earlier on this site...) . Sorry Mike! I think that down to 10th place is a bit much! 6th ...??
Note: Shakespeare said "Nostalgia is the whore of memory" -- but so what! I never heard of anyone of that name racing a Bantam -- must have been on bigger bikes or a Grasstracker or Speedway rider I met at some time....

| Only mine and dads opinion but i think it is good to have a trophy down to tenth, people work hard and every little helps to show for it.

| Hi Mike, As usual I will support Bantam racing and all those who struggle in the paddock to get a race, and throw a tenner into the pot to get the fund started. I will arrange a visit to see you soon. Cheers, Alan | |

| What about a wall-plaque for those sponsors or tuners that have worked hard to make Bantam race engines & Historic MCs what they are today. Start with Tom Miller, Brain White and Andy Boyle....
OK! so I´ll go into a corner and shut up!!

| I "feel" the tuner / engineer / mechanic- prise or trophy is a reasonable idea.

| With Alan's kind donation for bantam championship finishers - I think we can cover down to 4th place....
There's a BHR trophy meeting next month so we keep the fund open til 31st Oct - Then I can tell BHR to which position we can go down to.
Regards Mike | |

| I will happily bung in a tenner too.
Tho I have often thought I would like to support a basic Bantam success, ie: pre 65, cast iron barrell etc. If not, b.... it a prize to who ever can wind up you know who the best !!!

| Mike -- is your address still the same as when we corresponded over the Wobblyman Trophy? JayBee.
PS -- in the Good Old Days we had a Bnad-Aid award for the poor chappie who fell off the most in a season. Also, I was thinking of a pot for the one who tried really hard against the worst of odds. Would need the vote of all to determine whom it might be ....
Hmmm! Perhaps I should stop thinking....!!??

| The good old band aid award, well remembered JB. It was in fact an Eastern centre award and started life as a big band aid box then became a crutch with a plaque stuck to it. Am I right in assuming i'm the only bugger who has won it twice? 79 and 81. I always remember when Bill Lawrence won it and was handed his box of band aids by the D & D guest that year, Dave Croxford, Bill immediately opened the box and handed Dave a handful with the words "you need these more than I do", great days, lol. | |

| Yeah! you are right Mick it was an Eastern Centre thing. Wobbly beat me twice in qualifying for it but I think Niffy was the winner that year. All the best.... Cheers! JayBee. | |

| That was quick... only a small amount but I always worry about sending by post. Ridiculous thing is the bank charges (on top of exchange rate) are phenomonel for small amounts, Euro to Pound...
You didn´t understand the flywheel inertia bit? I do not believe you -- Too late re the copies -- you got it because I ran out of print paper and then we ran out of toilet paper... All copies are gone....
Peter MUST have understood it --- er??

| Subject: PS -- thinking about what you said... Sat Oct 22, 2011 8:38 pm | |
| Mike! -- you say you didn´t understand any of it when all you got were four curves on a graph of stored-flywheel-energy versus engine speed, which concludes -- theoretically, of course -- that the larger diameter flywheel stores more kinetic energy than a smaller dia... one of same weight....
Which every Bantam racer knows by instinct from the moment of sitting on his Mummy´s knee.
However! I think you meant more than that. If it is a scientific explanation of what happens when the flywheel goes about storing energy that´ll be a bit more than the two lines you want to bother with... (spitefully nasty ey??) and Nick B... will be saying its all Bullshine again... (wind-up Nick!)....
2nd However! -- the above represents a challenge I cannot back away from -- i.e. That is how to put it in layman´s terms -- IN TWO LINES "...storage of rotational energy in a flywheel..."
Perhaps someone else wants to have a go?
But do watch out for something under `Rossi´s need for a heavier crankshaft,´ or was it titled, "Heavy Crankshaft?"

| Subject: What about a trophy for ex BRC Chairman? Sat Oct 29, 2011 4:27 am | |
| Hey Ned, wake up! -- what about asking for a trophy for ex-BRC Chairman??
Or a nice Wall Plaque?
What a club it was ... ? fun except for Snetterton -- and the bikes some blokes raced in other than Bantam races?
The Wobblyman´s 500cc Triumph comes to mind -- looked really rough, split seat held together with packing tape and hand painted tank yet in Allcomers Up To 1000 our Colin would be 2nd or 3rd to bikes twice his cubics ....!!
It was Colin Aldridge´s fault I became Chairman -- he conned me into going to the Hoop & Grapes, Holborn and then conned the committee into having me in the chair!... A very young bar tender with very long hair brought our beer upstairs to the committe meetings, I think for the reason of clocking our Model member in her mini-skirt which was known as a Wide Belt. Possibly `Peter´ was the boy´s name!!!

| The begging bowl has been put away for another year....
We have the funds to secure trophies down to 10th place assuming BHR are footing some of our trophy bill (normally they go down to 4th)
Many many thanks for all the monies that came in Thank you all...
Kind regards Mike | |
