Hi Tony,
Thanks for spotting my old machine. What the vendor has failed to appreciate are the special magnesium hubs. These, in combination with the Borrianis made a wheel that was lighter than the cast magnesium wheels available at the time.
This bike finished 12th or 13th at Silverstone in 1976, in front of Jack Findlay I hasten to add. Biggest moment in that race was the rear slick giving way in the left hander going on to Hangar Straight. I was flat out behind the screen at the time, and suddenly my view changed from tarmac, to the crowd whizzing by from right to left. Because my reaction was so slow, meaning I kept it fairly well wound on, the bike straightened up and I didnt high side. Towards the end I was reeling them in but started to wear therough my boot to my little toe, which was excrutiating.
100 mph plus laps , great stuff.
Another memory was Sept 1976 at Oliver's Mount Scarborough Internat. Was going great after 3rd in 250 race, then narrowly avoided Steve Tonkin crashing at mountside h/pin. Thats him out of the frame I thought, only to have him pip me for 5th on the line!
Thinking about it, those things were bloody frightening, we are far more sensible riding Formula Bantams....
