| I need an under plug TEMP SENSOR, and gauge.
who do i get one from and how is the best way to set it up.
if anyone can please help - with an address or the type of gauge needed.
as I will need as much help as possible, in how to set one of these up, seems I have made some school boy errors, as a result the bike seized on the Dyno, this afternoon, i have just finished stripping it my goodeness "f" the damage in the engine is extensive, More importantly I have been told, I could have see this comming, "with an air cooled engine" if I had and underplug Temp sensor and gauge,
we were marginal with the fuel air charge, and doing a longer run than normal, if we had and underplug gauge we would have seen this or so a guy who is far more knowlegable them me.
kind regards to all.
regards Derek

| hi can you help me - you where overheared in the paddock saying one of these gauges was not difficult to make, could you explain this, and
bolivians yes hmm "I dont trust them" especially the women !.
Gliders I have been PM that powered gliders have these, could anyone suggest an underPlug type of gauge or sensor
So come on I know lots of you are aware of this gauge, as I want to get the correct item, I have been Pm that it seems the piece that goes under the plug (are several makes) are prone to failure, some more robust than others,
could some one help me here, ? 1) what should I be asking for and 2) from where or who should I be talking too?.
regards Derek

| Hi Dan
Taken a look at those, thanks they look very nice, just not sure its the correct one should be using but certainly for consideration, the type I can vagely remebr seeing are the ones on there own and have a round gauge showing a temp analoge display with numbered dial so we know where it should be, these are not digital
if I could get a digital item we may be able to get one that saves the highest recorded temp in a momory, these must be about,! and some one hopfully can comment who has purchased or used them!.

| Hi Derek Did you get the photo I sent from my phone, the sensor only took 5 days to get to me I got it last year, but I am sure you can still get them. I will be at the meet too.

The picture shows gauge calibrated in degrees F. Enquire if deg C version available.
I found anything over 200 deg C with my set-up, was likely to seize.
Hope this helps

| Hi Peter
ref you E-mails, and the process of properly profiling a new piston, prior to installation and blasting in earnest. Just wanted to feed back my success in stopping the scuffing, since I have been following this very simple process, we have had no scuffing on the exhaust sides per our mails.
Also there is no or little evidence of blowby under the rings, before we would run a piston in, it had a band of carbon under the rings, Now the lands under the rings after the running in process are much cleaner and no signs of any scuffing. ! (thats when I get the jetting correct)
I think it would be helpfull to others on here, would it be ok for me to load it, or better still could you forward it to Alan, he may wish to stick it under the technical tuning page, as its very useful information. !
I hope your well Peter.
Kind regards Derek. | |

| Hi Derek,
Glad it helped. Yes I will ask Alan to put it in the tuning section.
BTW I hope to be at Mallory tomorrow just to have a look. I am pleased that Mick Scutt has taken over my mantle of oldest rider! I wish him deserved success.

| I am using an under plug TEMP SENSOR, and gauge, similar to those described above.
Could someone give me an idea of what the approximate temp readings should be for a cast barrel bantam.
"I found anything over 200 deg C with my set-up, was likely to seize." Is that a fair rule of thumb for a cast iron barrel?
Many thanks,
Andy | |
