Hi all and Ian
yes cadwell I'm just waiting for a pipe, to smoke,!! I can not get any acetalene in small bottles no one can, BOC have promised next month they will be able to anounce what happening with filling small bottles, anyway thanks for those kind words " Inew someone could see the sence of my ramberlings all you need to do now is help me confvince the other 38 bantams out there they should first be looking in, then racing, or making plans to,
I could not see Brian Lane on the Photo's On JS2 anyone see him in the Paddoc, or racing H was to be there and that new guys seems to have gone really well on "Colin Halls" old Bike.
anyway here's some more pictures to show, while I have been busy at work, Ive also been busy in the shed and on the dyno the first graph was my first proper run since 1988, last year, I could only ever afford one or two go's, anyway the second is after Alan helped me with the new carb and some better jetting and the third is last week after a change of cylinder head shape. everything else more or less the same bar the Pipe and some very minor changes like squish, size shape and other things, I have now stopped playing with inner transfer wall profiles, with these my bike would make a great trials engine! so Ihave removed them, Ive had quite a bit of assistance by PM and email from Trevor Amos. but never spoken to him by phone, I think you presume too much Ian! Trevor I have to say has been an absolute tresure with little snip bits of info, and help, and Trevor has not said what happened to Mark but I hope he will report, as I would like to know he is ok, so that I may come armed with hazard warning lights and indicator arms to Cadwell so he can avoid me and knows which way Im going next time. ! all I heared is he threw it up the road once while leading and another whilest chasing the leaders, but you know how things can get distorted sometime, so I really did not know and certainly not spoken to Trevor about it, Ithink if I was to ring trevor Iwould be asking him more important questions like why dont you change your rider or please strip and photo your engine or Barrel "just Like Tom did then down load it so we can all see. !
moving on- what I or we need now to move forwards is a dyno that gives correct and accurate air fuel ratio readings, apparenmtly, they are or all should be a different set of parameters in the lambda settings page, with Pump fuel than with AVGAS. using just avgas one the wrong parameters makes the Dyno reading usless and always shows a 2 stroke rich "ouch", when it could be weak.
so we are making slow but steady progress, really looking forwards to a practice day hoping to go to one of the circuits pre Cadwell, apparently I have to finish to be able to keep going, so I need to finish at least, she says I'm spending too much time talking bulocks rather than working
so have to reduce /put a stop to this.
hope you like the photo's please comment anyone if you wish. I got the cylinder head from George Harris many years back never new it fitted the same stud centres as my 55mm stud Bantam, with a bit of help, anyway I think it was one of a number of batches he had done, for a bike he was developing called the "bindy or hindy" my memory escapes me, anyway a very interesting peice of engineering, and casting.
see you all soon I hope
regards Derek
psbike up in air to keep cylinder sq while i have just been doing volume checks with oil for three different heads, there are some tell tail signs of what I have been up to, the crown here is very oily as using car engine oil this one is 10.4ml this combustion chamber does look big, so I assume this is equal to 10.4cc ? giving me just about about 12.8 to 1 "measured volume" not from exhaust closing.
