Crank case welding Empty
PostSubject: Crank case welding   Crank case welding Icon_minitimeSat Sep 01, 2012 10:58 pm

We need to apply some weld to build up neck of crank case, can anybody recommend which welding rod is most suitable for the job. We have readily available er5356 or 4145 rods, would either be suitable or is there a better choice. Many thanks.
The cases are the older sand cast versions if that makes a difference.

Thanks Mike, we have moved this along now. But if you get the chance next time you see your welding man ask him what rods he uses. Also if it is of interest to anybody we have put a crank case on the spectrometer at work and it is made of LM4 aluminium alloy.
