Well done Dan and don't tell John B about the big flywheels   just found the weights for them my Ex engine now Michaels weights 4.592 KG and my new engine under development 4.438 was very happy with it five races five finishes    roll on 3 Sisters

I always thought them big flywheels `udd come in handy. Well done the Brown family....

No mention of the clutch ey? Slipping the clutch whilst reving up to max has a lot of energy stored in a big flywheel which means with a good clutch you have a torque-converter....Nuff said!

Secret spy shots of new flywheel in development !!

Wow! Where´s that from?

Believe it or not in our Canadian R&D facility we ran flywheels up to self destruction. In my old files somewhere is a slide of a cast-iron flywheel for our V-8 diesel engine which exploded at 10,400rpm. The test rig, below my office, was a round hole lined with wood to catch the broken bits and a drive mounted on top that motored the flywheel. It used to take the air-motor more than a half-an-hour to get the flywheel up to 10,000.

I must dig out the slide and get Edward to post it...

My first bike was a 660cc Duggy with external flywheel. The stories that went the rounds in those days suggested flywheels were hurtling around everwhere a motorcycle was running. I couldn´t imagine how they could get away unless the crankshaft broke in the right place but I could imagine a Duggie flywheel bouncing at speed, about to take a head off as was said to have happened....
