PostSubject: Congratulations Mr Brown   mallory results Icon_minitimeFri Jun 20, 2014 10:11 pm

Congratulations Messrs Brown & Brown (-- of the BIG flywheels!)....

Thank you to Danny for posting the results -- its bad enough being incarcerated
here in a foreign land -- but having no news of Blighty happenings makes it worse....

Good to see new names in the results -- how about hearing from the `NEW Boys´?
Their experiences like, like how was it and all taht? Although I´d raced Grass and
`raced´in Speedway practice sessions (at Hackney and Rye House) the first time
I was in a road race I said it was my last. Well, I was in last place for
two laps and finished second from last -- and I was cold and wet....

Cheers!

Well john, my first race's got off to a really poor start,Saturday it was announced that noise testing would be done, the bike started ok and off I went to queue with the motor getting hotter and hotter eventually passing the test and 215c! After that it. Was such a pig to start, I missed first practice AMD fiddled with carb settings and it ran, waited for second practice and no starting when it did the brake lever fell off! Got to the holding area and was stopped as the lady said I'd not signed in ( but had later found my name was down twice) when I was eventually let off the flag was being waved to end the session, so no practice no race! Got a go in the pr6 parade and bike was running badly but just rideable,
Now second race I made the grid but only half the sighting lap as the bike was almost stalling all the time, more fruitless carb tuning and made the grid for third race but the se problem arose,
Saturday evening strip down showed real culprit was a crank seal completely blown out of the casing new seal fitted and a Sunday practice session done bike was still off colour and bearly making 9000 rpm but done first race with no torque to start with, finished with a good tussle with Derek , more carb fiddling got me another 500rpm for the second raceamd a few extra seconds but still down on power, tests at home show seal still leaking baddly, so working to fix it all, really enjoyed the riding but disappointed with not having the power

PostSubject: That´s tough---   mallory results Icon_minitimeSat Jun 21, 2014 10:49 pm

That´s really tough, Danso!

I have complained on here about Icarus-1 being down on revs & power but at least I got practice
and two races in at each meeting -- sometimes even 6...! Except one at Lydden where both the ABS 250
and Icarus-1 Bantam, both refused to start.

All very strange. But I guess it was all to do with bad preparation on my part and being late at the circuit.
In those days the officials weren´t so Hawk-Eyed*** as now and when Chris Newport lent me his 6-cylinder
150 or 200cc Honda (I think! Italian anyway) for the 250 race, I couldn´t resist going out on it -- even without
practice. Chris said, "Don´t let the revs go over eleven & a half thou..." Heck! the 250 ABS only went to 9,500
so I felt a bit queezy about it. More so, when at the run&bump start it fired up immediately. I wheeled off the line
seeing what looked like 14,000 on the clock. Attempting a change up with the brake-pedal had several go past
and I took all of the first lap to sort out gear- changing and braking but, by heck, it was a wonderful experience...

That one `ride´ was worth the day´s aggro though.

That was the thing with the BRC Club, there was a camaradie of lending a bike and I often wondered how Chris
could have lent such very special machine to a known Loon like me....

*** we had none of that noise-testing stuff!

Cheers and better luck next time!

Well done Dan, looks like you did better than you thought in your class points. Waiting for noise test with the Bantam can and is exasperating when keeping the motor on song waiting your turn. Just a thought, would any Bantam rider with a set of starter rollers be prepared to stand at the gate and allow the Bantam boys to start their engines prior to the test and save an overheating motor just like Dans. Just a thought.

JS2 is having a refit at this time, Various engine mods, new funnel ect. Nearly finished Brians 125 Yamonda it's looking mean and fast I just hope Brian will be able to tame it.

See you all some time.
