| I was very interested to see the early 80s grid pictures. I bought my short stroke watercooled race bike from Lionel Howell in 1988. I did try writing to him later, but never heard back. Mike Powell did tell me he remembered racing against Richard at Cadwell. Does anyone remember this bike being raced with BRC, is it in any of these photos ? It had #2 on it when I bought it, I think Lionel said it was ridden to 2nd place in a championship and first in a 50 miler. I have sold the ex Chas James Bantam to an up and coming young classic racer, hopepully will have 4 Bantams out at Pukekohe in February. Dear old Les Harris will make it his swansong (he must be near 80, but very fit), this maybe the last big Pukie Festival as the circuit is closing after the V8 Supercar meeting. | |

Hi John Yeh remember both Lionel and Richard racing. I once borrowed a clutch pushed rod from them on one of my many scrounging tours of the pits, I remember them being a bit snotty and came up to me straight after the race and demanded the push rod back. Funny how these little experiences of someone stay with you for life, probably a decent bloke do remember his bike being decent not sure about Richards though. Good luck for the new season Tony ps bike could be in my Cadwell Inter pic, around the same time | |

| I remember the Howells well, in fact Lionel and I worked for the same company in Bishops Stortford, Herts. The company also part sponsored me on the Kawasaki, due to the fact one of the directors was a bike nut. | |
