| Hi Guys. Got myself a new computer and system, and changed servers, in doing so lost my favorites. But I'm back to torment you. - john bass wrote:
George Harris reckoned there were complaints about my riding style but he overcame them and the Sec of Meeting for my wins to stand.... One of the protesters reckoned there was a rule that once started, a rider was not permitted to take his feet off the footrests until the race was over. That must have been cod´s-whallop -- or is it so? . No not cods-wallop John. The rule was introduced not to stop nutters like you from riding speedway style with a foot on the deck. But to stop nutters like me from laying flat along the top of the bike for added streamlining. I did actually do this once along the 127, to see what I could get out of my Dommy. When I sat up the cable had broken on the speedo !

| Thats a good one Ned. Reminds me of when I was developing my wind cheating "painted on the tank" style. Flat out on the tank of my venom Clubman I was trying to see if I could get the magic 105 mph......with my complete set of keys in the barbour top left outer pocket, not for long. Despite 1/2 day looking for them, never found them.
by the way, I'm still going for may 19th 1973......

| Peter! that has just got to be May19th 1973 -- #2 Race, "Any Make 125" which was actually #4 Race because of the two Novice races and a 1000cc beforehand of getting to #2 Race... Got IT! George Harris would know why...? ... Fact is I know -- I KNOW -- it started raining in #4 Race at the 3rd lap, or so, and I was able to slither into the front... Fantastic slidy tires we had in those days -- 2 seasons already, my poy and worth a fiver of anybody´s money. In fact during 5 and a half seasons of riding Bantams (it is not possible to RACE a 8400rpm Bantam against those Bantams revving beyond 11500 ...) I only bought two tyres -- one for the front and one for the back -- Dunlop Triangulars... Beat using Continental Sports on the front.,..!
... NOW that´s really quite enough of Nostalgia you two! Pack it in! ... What I don´t understand is WHY is there NO 125 GP this year? ... Have I got it wrong? -- -- much like in `74 the ACU packed-in the 125TT -- upsetting the like of Fred Launchbury whose letter in the BRC mag I found whilst hunting that other crap. They put Proddy machines into the programme and maybe -- just maybe -- regretted it when that bad year came of 8 deaths during TT fortnight with Production Bikes being most prevalent. Slick phoned a week after TT and said he´d already attended 4 funerals in one week and had to go another -- all 8 were riders he knew well.... ... Thinking back (JUST ONE MORE TIME) we had some brave BRC members Bantaming the TT alongside our Fred; Chris Gregory at 17stone spent most of his time burning out clutches on the mountain retired with a broken exhaust pipe, Dick Hunter, Mick Scutt, Bob Newby, Rodney Gooch, Tony Jones and many more names that escape me were brave men indeed to rush around that wild course with walls and curbs awaiting every mistake... Cheers!
