Reading J.Bs. nostalgia ramblings in another thread reminded me of another club character in the distant past.
Does any one remember the guy that got himself an article in the national motor cycle press by his mode of transport. He took his partly dismantled 250 special to the railway station on a street traders barrow and from the nearest station to the circuit. Now that's commitment.

I believe the guy's name was Laurie Sadler. He had some sort of hand cart to transport his bike (not sure of model) which seemed to be held together with dexion!

Correct Ned -- not sure of the name either, although Sadler seems near enough correct. Buddy of mine -- he, Curley, was a conscript and I as a regular soldier were together in Palestine and Kenya. He found me, last year -- after 52 years -- and we met in Chelmsford last September. He topped my motocycle tales by telling he bought a Speedway bike on his demob gratuity and used to practice at Rye House weekly taking the bike on train and bus from Hertford. He was taking every Thursday off to do this and his boss told him it was either Speedway or his job....

So it is that stardom is nipped in the bud.

I was doing quite well on the Boiler´s 250ABS when greed for more status
& more money had me off to Canada...

Curly and I are meeting again this September in Chelmsford -- bye the bye -- Peter T... is going to drop in on us at our Self catering digs probably along with the Boiler (Andy Boyle) and we are there from 21st to 129th September.

Shakespeare said Nostalgia is the Whore of memory ....!
Cheers!
