Dont know if this is any help

If you have a MOTA version 6.00 numbered #24119 up to #24177 and wish to run it on a computer under Windows XP®, you will need to download an updated driver for the hardlock.
To do this, download hldrv32.exe from http://www.aladdin.de/support/hardlock_setup_programme.html
and execute it (double click hldrv32.exe in the download folder ) AFTER installing the MOTA programme
suite from the CD.

If any problems are encountered after you upgrade your computer system to a faster machine, visit the Aladdin site as above and perform the download and upgrade your hardlock driver to the latest version.
We have encountered problems ourselves as speeds have gone from 1GHz to 3GHz in just the last 12 months alone.

FAQ #4
MOTA will not usually work on any PC using a Celeron processor , nor with Winbond chips.

FAQ #5
As from August 2005 MOTA uses a Feitian brand Rockey USB style dongle. This is not suitable for use with a 64bit operating system. We are waiting on the manufacturer to add this ability, so for now we cannot supply MOTA to run on a 64bit computer.

Derek

as its a new pc its almost certainly windows 7 and they are usually supplied with 64 bit windows as it allows more memory to be used than a 32 bit version.

If you have not yet found out then -

Click the Start button then on the right of the start menu Right click "Computer" and left click Properties

about halfway down the properties page under "System" it will say

"System Type: 32 bit operating system" OR "System Type: 64 bit operating system"

If its 64 bit then you cannot make MOTA work on it - at least thats how it was on 3rd August.
There are 32 bit and 64 bit drivers available for the dongle, however MOTA itself will only operate on a 32 bit system.

If thats the case, an email to Ian Williams may help to persuade them into releasing a 64 bit version - iwt@iwt.com.au

Hi Ed & Derek

You can unzip to anywhere you like then just navigate there and double click hldrv32.exe

you may get a message saying the new one is the same as or older than the driver installed

If so go to device manager and delete the Feitian ROCKEY4 drivers, go back and run hldrv32 again

plug in your dongle, it should recognise the device and finish the driver installation.

Mick

Hi Derek

assuming windows 7 and a usb dongle -

click the round start button

type device into the small search box

by the time you have typed about 3 characters you will see Device Manager near the top of the list that appears

Click on Device Manager, then at the bottom of the next list that appears -

Double-Click on Universal Serial Bus controllers

The list will expand to show several devices including Feitian ROCKEY4

Right click Feitian ROCKEY4 and click uninstall - update driver is no good to you as the driver is supplied in an exe file.

Navigate to your downloaded and unzipped driver file hldrv32.exe and double-click to run it again.

follow the prompts and once installed, plug in the dongle - it should be recognised and installation should complete.

good luck!

Hi Derek

The Safenet drivers are supposed to be replacements for older drivers but it looks like they wont work with Mota

Your best bet is to install the older hldrv32 driver instead which is still available and we know does work.

Right click the Safenet ones and uninstall them.

Make sure you have downloaded and un-zipped hldrv32.zip then run the hldrv32.exe

it should install ok once the other drivers are removed then plug in the dongle.

OK lets go through a check list

remove dongle

uninstall safenet drivers in Device Manager as before

reboot

click start button

type hldrv32 in the search box

hldrv32.zip which you downloaded earlier should appear in the list

Left click hldrv32.zip (one click) to display the contents of the zip file

Double click hldrv32.exe and follow the prompts - watch out for a message in case there is a problem here

reboot

insert the dongle

I dont think rebooting is strictly necessary but it would do no harm and will sometimes overcome install problems

It is gonna be something silly, Probably something that can be fixed pretty quickly if the computer is in front of the person helping.
