Many thanks to Alec Huteson of the Old Northern Centre of the BRC who sent these of some odd bodd in the Cadwell paddock!
The Magden was a long stroke and very competitive in its day, with the cycle parts built by Alan Hibbs and my engine fired by battery powered Lumenution ignition.

The water cooled Van Dongen Yamaha was crap! it was slow and broke down a lot and handled like a drunken butterfly, something I wished I had never bought! but we all have silly moments.
Have a good laugh... you never saw so much hair!
Out of interest.. The blue van was an original BBC camera van that used to be used at horse race meetings and the camera was mounted on the roof, the roof was massively strengthened and there were climbing steps up the back corners either side of the doors! these can be seen in the photos!

Hi Alan

I know the "youngster in the first photo, but I have no idea who the guy with so much hair is in the second. !

Number 10 in the background behind, is that Dick Hunter.

I hope the weather is not giving you too much of an issue, I understand the damp plays havoc with support frames, one of the main reasons Barry Sheen went to Australia.

kind regards Derek

Hi all

Mike was'nt Dick Hunters or possibly Tony Jones Bantam (Georges) yellow top with red lower half, but I could be wrong.

I think the bloke in the photo is too old to be "John white" ! at that time !. no pun intended, and I agree great photo's of Alan, but how do you load photo's like these, and maintaining the picture quality with out a jpeg. ?

I have the prints I would like to post given to me by Susan Sawer, who wished them to be seen, but each time I scan them, they do not come out very well ! help anyone.!

Derek

Pic 1 won't have been at a BRC meeting - Auto 66 at Carnaby perhaps? Definately 1976 though - I remember the helmet!

Pic 2 is the BRC meeting at Cadwell Park on 23 July 1977. The bike no 11 is Brian White's and behind it the black bike no 6 is Colin Hammond's bantam. Alan achieved 2nd and 3rd places on the Yamaha in the open 125 races that day. Not bad for a drunken butterfly! lol!

Great pics.
