Mike the photo shows John on the bike bought by Colin Armett and John from Barry Messer in 1970, in a letter I have he quotes
" we paid £100 for it and I seem to remember Barry saying it had a Fred Smart frame ". I can remember Barry riding the bike
and I think he won a 50 mile race on it, so there you Derek you were right.

I will be in touch with Mick soon I will ask him to look at the photo and tell me if it is him, I thought is was Pete but looking at it
again the bike does look like the one I past on to him.

Derek I will answer your post at a later date as my head left my body a few days ago and has yet to return.
