Help.
I am in need of help from those that run Bantam barrels converted to water cooled. Over the years with JS1 we used a velo LE
rad with 3 pts water thermo syphon, no problems, now I use a 125 Yamaha rad with 2.5 pts water. Saturday racing was spent
sorting out the carb and gear lever position and water temp 88c,( within the limits). Sunday started well but the gear lever still needed to be changed,( these works riders), the last race the bike shot off the line only to last one lap, Brian told me the temp
rose to over 90c and thought the motor was about to seize so pulled in. On inspection no sign of seizure or overheating but I now
think it's about time I thought about a pump system so I ask for advice on what pump to use, were to get it, is it a 6volt, what
battery is best, I just don't know.
Thanks for any advice,
PS, It was good to meet those who introduced themselves to me with regards JS2.

Les 2012.

Hi Les. I'm not sure what pumps are favoured now but when I was riding we used a 12V 'Whale' pump intended for caravan use not hot water but they never gave us any problems.

Edit - PS - I guess Brian has smaller feet than John had.

Most are 12v, I use a VW Passat boost pump. But there are many similar ones. Pete Tibbitts posted in the distant past a UK part number, I think it was a Ford one, but I could not find that here in NZ

Quote from Pete's post :-

Bosch pump fitted to Galaxy / Sharan is Bosch part number 0-392-020-073, available from Bosch Autmotive outlets, no idea on price.

Ford part number is 3M21-8502-BA Finis code (dealers ref) 1307485 Price is £165.91 (£83 to Ford Employees possessing a Ford vehicle it is used on).

Euro Car Parts (http://www.eurocarparts.co.uk) list one as part number 201440740 at £70.63 + VAT. We think this will be the same as above.

Mick Potter is using the above bosch part on his (Ted's) machine.

Hi Les
Demon tweeks do a small 12v pump its in there motorsport catalouge 19mm hoses £100 approx they also do a solid state controller that controls the speed of the pump to a pre set temp. On the Maico im building i use one of these pumps (with out controller] and battery powered ign {from P Champness} i use lucas battery from a mobility scooter you dont need a deep cycle battery .
