Electric die grinders

Anyone with experience of electric die grinders able to offer advice re suitable make/model for Bantam barrel work?

I assume from the silence no one had experience to this 'tool'?

i have a fair amount of experience with tools Jimmy !!! let me explain about the long and cold nights studdying studdying and the frsutration of not understanding, anyway are yes "tools" yes" I believe Rex Gaunt has an excellent die Grinder 20,000rpm and a selection of heads that make light work of the transfers, so important for a quick motor, I think if some one were to suggest it more than one or two could chip in and share the cost of getting one to move around as required, a proper one I mean, anyway they are either German or American im not so sure on the American one's, but the german is Rohlm, Im sure of this but rex will confirm the name cracking piece of kit.

not sure on the spelling though, you could google, either way they are not cheap but vital for accurate transfer work or mods for a 125 barrel or barrels without liners, Rex may offer this service, but im sure he will charge you for it.

Did some research into this a while ago,asked a tuner via a work colleague but this guy was cagey. Asked on a Yam forum and got loads of info. You can use a multitude to do Inlet and exhaust but when it comes to precise top of transfer work you need a special small angled tool. One is electric with a pedal and the other is air, one is made by Fordham and Derek may be right about the other being German. Very expensive and realised that I would have to tune half a dozen yam barrels to pay for it all, something I may still do at somestage. Ended up getting in with an electric dremmel type thing but far from ideal>

In the far off days of Team No Limits and RS250's we used to get our cylinders prepared by Trick Tuning in Nottingham. I just copied what he used, as there seemed to be very little information available. Mind you, in 1995 the internet was only just starting!

So I ended up with Diprofil equipment. Pedal controlled flexible electric shaft drive rotary file system. Straight and 90 deg drive heads. Collet fitting of tungsten carbide tools. German. Not cheap. UK agent is in Maidstone.

Part No's :-
part number 32001 = unit kit
part number 34002 = 90 degree angle.

as always Pete is spot on this looks an excellent piece of kit, but my god the price ? it may be much cheaper to purchase this from Germany, there will be at least 40 to 100% margin on this item into the UK I would imaginge !!!!!!!!!!

Dr Jonathan Rohl is a German dentist who studied in California (I think?) -- probably responsible for the design of the drill Derek spoke of....

Are there any dentists in the BRC? or anyone with a dentist as a relative? -- its a likely way of getting a good one on the cheap -- even if not a Rohl?

I wouldn't recommend the cheap ones off Ebay you can get secondhand, I'm still waiting for 2 fingernails to grow back after it slipped out of my hand. Dremmel make a nice one I think.
