| Hi All it's nearly upon us ? not long now ... I always find it exciting at the beginning of the season wondering what things will happen - who will be faster than before - and who has changed something in the hope of better performance (but sometimes worse - i've done on many an occasion)
Anyway here are some rumours that may be true - you need to be at Mallory to see ? 1 Ian Scutt has a revamped motor which has had some succesful test outings! 2 Robin Brown has a NEW 175 motor which is fast and has had some testing done allready? 3 Ted Smith has found a rider for the Stevie Woods Bantam and we all know that is rapid ! 4 Ted again has a 175 motor to house in one of his machines? With a George Farrenden Pipe ? 5 My new 125 motor is still on order and should be done mid season - unless any of you break your engines and hold up Tom !! Also I'm making my 500 debut on a friends G80 Matchless in the Specials class (at local circuits)
Well that's all the gossip I know ??

| Hi Mike! I thought Mallory 23rd was to have been a practice plus Bantam Race day. Seems you need Regs to go and practice? -- what happened anyway -- anybody know? -- And of course, if the Blair/Brown govenment has its way you'll be paying user-tax to even push your Bantam up your garden path... I have signed the petition -- everybody should! And how wrong I was at the Nottingham VMCC D&D. In my mind's eye the Bantam riders were to be mostly looking like pimply, pink-faced unsophisticated teenagers and the majority looked quite the opposite. I should have brought my German Waldhorn - like a bugle, only louder -- with me but the last time it was in Slick's presence he bunged a chocolate-coated peanut up its orifice and nearly done it in... ... and I expected to meet a fresh faced kid whose Dad," Bert", would be escorting his little lad, Phil Betty, to the VMCC D&D ... What did I find out? -- Bert is Phil's dog...! and Phil is quite rugged and a littl short on hair --(not as much as PT of course - but that I knew already)... (Sorry Phil -- that's 'cos you didn't reply to my e-Mail.) Most enjoyable time and I must do it again -- if the Old Reaper doesn't scythe me down before then. Oh! it nearly happened yesterday -- that 'precious thing Gravity' got to me - plus plenty of INERTIA. On the Strassenbahn - Tram to you - the driver slammed on the brakes at about 30kpm as I was walking, towards the back, to find a seat. He braked as I was holding on to a vertical post by my right hand... About six people rushed at me - I was hit in the chest, spun around and went across a free space where normally bikes are parked, in the manner of your 'high-sider' Rusty photographed so well and did a 4-point landing on knees and and hands. Just like doing a 'frog-flight' over the front of a Bantam at Snetterton(on the Nedmachine), Snetterton on Icarus-1, Brands, Cadwell, Lydden and several other circuits I've forgotten. The driver came and excused his behaviour: a pedstrian had stepped onto the track. I told him he should have run over the pedsetrian and he didn't think that at all funny. So, no more looking behind, no more 'frog-flying' tricks in '07 -- right! Best of luck with the bigger bike -- and the Bantaam, of course! Go well and keep well, Aye. JayBee. PS. Knees, wrists and elbow are hurting -- reminders of the past!? | |

| A faultering start is expected from the Tibbitts camp. Aidan hasnt even entered the Mallory meeting due to work commitments, and I've been struggling to raise the enthusiasm and priority to get mine finished. Having said that, a number of changes have been incorporated for 2007, including (dare I say it) new paintwork!! Before you all get excited, the new paintwork only got as far as the rear subframe. So, all being well we will be there. | |
