Having just had a successful weekend at The Classic Bike Guide Show at Newark which was a static show
I would just like to remind you of the next show which is a lot more lively - The Festival of 1000 Bikes at Mallory Park.

Last year Robbie Andy C and myself did a lot of demonstration laps (racing!) and attracted some attention!
One being the other Rob who has bought himself a bantam and should be racing this year.. Its a great event
to showcase who we are and what we do!! My entry is in... anyone else coming along??

The event is 6,7,8th July with the Race Parades being on the 8th visit VMCC for details.

Regards Mike

I will be going too. I'm going to get my entry in this week, it gets busier every year. I took my road bike on the track last year and loved it. I never actually thought I would end up racing because i thought it was out of reach! I had been on the site several times and met a couple of bantam racers the year before inside the cafe at breakfast but I have no idea who...

Is this the final numbers for the Festival of 1000 Bikes? if so I will make a plan??

At moment my thoughts are

At the moment Two very respectible Bantam racers on BHR stand (a lot better and better than last year) as static display bikes. Robbie,Rob and I get out in the same parades and do demstration laps at right speed Very Happy
I will be seeing (i hope) James Hewing (VMCC Ltd) on Wednesday.

Anyone have contacts for T-shirt manufacturers and/or banners makers?

Regards Mike

And let me tell you I am looking forward to it, I have been trying to get to this event for about the last five years, on either side of the fence, so the opportunity to be on the "right" side of the fence is going to be a bonus, as Mike says probably the best mobile advert for the whole of our sport!

I saw James Hewing CEO of the VMCC Ltd on Wednesday evening at a BHR committee meeting
and he assures me every effort will be made to get all the Bantams out in the same sessions. They
may be a little more track time availible? As there may be something happening on the BHR front which
we could well be a part off.

Regards Mike

Hi all latest news for those bantam folk entered at the festival there may be the change of an extra
outing in a BHR track time session, i'll keep you posted. 1'000 bikes in now full to race bikes so if you
haven't got an entry(cashed your cheque) i'm afraid you have missed out this year.

extra outing isnt that only "open" to all BHR racers Mike, I wrongly assumed it would be for Bantams Only",
there is always next year. Mind you its a bit of a poor turn out, for our class "why is this Mike" can not think why all dont see this as a cheap test day and a good opportunity of a weekend of race recreation, and BBQ"ing.

I know what you mean Derek ref current racers - but its a free world and its
not as if it is a bantam championship race. The BHR session will be for current
BHR members at the Festival. A bantam only session would be good but
watching 5 bantams speeding round Mallory would not impress.

Hi MIKE
yes "5"! I agree anyway this is "BETTER THAN TWO" and a 50% increase on last year, "This is what I wrote to James "and why I would make it mandatory if you wish to score points for any BHR racer to suport this event, its what the festival and our own cause is all about! or Imwould say anyone taking part gets an extra 50 points in every championship they compete it
(its not blackmail is called supporting the cause or future of the event, and helps develop publicity for new/old racers comming into our BHR race events)

Just wanted to say I understand some of the work you have done on this, and would like to say "thank you".

I feel we need as many Bantam racers present as possible, at events, like all events like this, they do all wish to racing against each other, I remeber Micky Nash went to great lengths to increase the grids and helped so many, I would sometimes enter a meeting just because I did not want to let him down, even though I new the bike had a problem not resolved (just the same as Tom did the gear box for ed's bike this bike will be out this year because of this.

Another point Mike "you never answered me" what's the plan was for the day activities, as at the classic Bike show at stafford, where they get attendances above 20,000 over a few days, they have introduced a very well supported and popular feature, its a ringed-off area outside !!! for racers to start there engines", tail pipes no silencers, lots of 2 strokes,!! wow could you imagin an unfared Bant singing for a few moments at 10,000RPM " seems they are again expecting a bumper crowed this year, this scene is grown, we should take every opportunity in this for our cause!

I think it would be just great ides to do what the "London Boys" and Tom did at the BSB round at brands last year what a great Idea this was (mind you I feel the wrong crowed - but an excellent publicity stunt") they could do the same have an area policed "outside the Paddock" full of Bantams with Information boards on each bike and leaflets, photo's the same as what Mary styles did for the 45th aniversary, sadly Icould not attend the 50th, I would be happy to support "if some one wishes to send me some art work I will get leaflets done by my Printer guy in colour. I think it would be good to have an area next to the BHR regalia Tent selling T-shirts would be ideal location.!!! not sure if this could happen Mike certainly it would be great to have a markey of even a carravan awning and tables showing race pictures for sale at £50p each to support a hospis charity.?

we have an interesting furture awaits us! I recon there is at least 10 new bantam guys being currently built, at the moment roughly half of them, thats a result we will have two at some point this year.

With regards to shows i dont think getting/blagging a small marquee, shoplite truss structure, lights, display boards etc is the hard part. I think people's valuable time and knowledge to man these things is.

Sounds like you are selling yourself the job of organising it though Derek! lol!
